Where in the hell is Surrey, British Columbia? | Why we are the best city in Canada

Hi. I'm Darin Germyn, a realtor in Surrey, British Columbia. We get asked all the time from colleagues and clients from across our great country all the time. Where is Surrey? You're from Surrey. Where is that? So our solution is a video we have definitely called. So where in the hell is Surrey, British Columbia?

Surrey is located in the province of British Columbia, just south of the Fraser River and just north of the Canada/U.S border. It is a member of the municipality of Metro Vancouver Regional District Metropolitan area. You should know, Surrey, because it is the province's second largest city by population after Vancouver. Think of us like Vancouver, except we're not. We're kind of like the little brother of Vancouver, but we're better looking. We're less stuck up and we have a much better personality. We help connect Vancouver and the rest of the Fraser Valley areas like Abbotsford, where a lot of our food in Canada has grown in some of the most fertile soil in all of the world. All separated by the mighty Fraser River.

There are 7 neighborhoods in Surrey that are designated town centers including Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton, South Surrey and City Center, accompanied by Whalley, all named after a guy named Arthur Whalley, where he ran a service station, general store and a soft drink stand. How cool is that?

We were named after Surrey, England, which always buggers up my Google searches. When I am looking for anything online. We are the 12th largest city in Canada and have major hospitals, golf courses, malls, hotels, convention centers, boating, hiking, world-class dining and entertainment, Olympic-esque swimming pool facilities and more. We are called the City of Parks because we have so many parks and they rock too. We have universities like Simon Fraser, Kwantlen Polytechnic, CDI College, BC Institute of Technology and another soon-to-be location for the University of British Columbia. We have a SkyTrain, major transit, lots of big bridges to get us over the many Rivers that run through our area down from the coastal mountains where we snowboard, hike, mountain bike and bring our out of town relatives who don’t have fun things where they live.

We are a diverse community full of all different ages, colors and backgrounds of people. One of the reasons that we are so awesome you can speak any language here, find any kind of food your heart desires and learn all about different cultures and background, just by meeting the people around town. Surrey has been ranked as one of the top places to invest for many years by the Real Estate Investment Network of Canada.

We are 15 minutes to the border, 30 minutes to Vancouver, 1 hour to the mountains, 2 hours to Seattle and 4 hours to the Okanagan. Did I mention, 5 minutes to the beach? We are the best city in BC to live, to work and to play. We are Surrey, BC and if you didn't know us before, you know us now. I'm Darin Germyn with the Germyn Group. Thanks for watching.
